There are so many things to get this old house ready for winter.  I am  working on getting things in place to insulate around windows doors and all the normal things. Reminding kids to close the doors, when they run out them. The next steps are more insulation, I need to get another layer of insulation in the attic, and I am going to put insulation around water pipes that are close to outside walls. I am also going to put insulation in the rafters of the basement with a plastic sheet stapled up to the rafter boards to keep the cold from coming up through the floors. Next year I am going to see about getting blown in isulation in the walls.

I have changed almost all of the light bulbs in the house to energy saving bulbs, that wasn’t hard or wasteful as the house had been empty for a while before we got the house.  Most of the bulbs were blowing shortly after we moved in. There are some jobs still to be done to make the house a home, but I am tackling them a little at a time.  I am doing one thing at a time as I can afford the materials to do it.

I made homemade laundry soap and taught a friend how to, she was quite excited about it.      http://tipnut.com/10-homemade-laundry-soap-detergent-recipes/

I am still working on a knitted poncho for my cousin, more some days than others.

That is about it right now, I wish you all a wonderful day. Take care.

Sorry everyone, I got a little side tracked and a whole lot busy. I replaced my van with one 3 years older, finished the slippers I was knitting in the police car. I have knitted a Peace blanket for my brother’s baby, due in september, and moved from Ontario to Cape Breton , Nova Scotia.

I am currently getting settled and doing some home repairs. I will get some pictures up, after I find the adapter to connect my phone to the computer, and have time to sort though the ones on my camera. since I took pics with both. Take care for now.

Well as you can guess from the title, today has been one of those days. The kind of day that has you looking for the good points. It actually started out fairly well, we all got up and off to where we had to be on time. I got some knitting done on my slippers, while I was waiting at the school for the teacher to come get the student I transport. I drive special needs school bus. I then returned home at the usual time, jumped out of my bus ran into the house for a second and then got into my van. I had some errands to run.

The day is going fairly well, off to grab a hot chocolate and then into London to the get some stuff for the kids lunches. One of the stores is having a really good sale this week.

Unfortunately, this is where my day took a turn for the not so great. I was driving down the 401,(one of the main highways in Ontario, Canada), when the transport truck in front of me lost it’s driveshaft. I didn’t have time to do anything but hit the brakes. That is probably the best thing I could have done in this situation because it slowed my momentum. When the driveshaft hit my van, I only did a half spinout and didn’t go into the ditch or flip the van. Unfortunately, it did some pretty serious damage to the undercarriage of my van and deployed the airbags. I, of course called the police to report the accident. The police officer showed up and told us that the truck was just up the road a way, so we were to get in the cruiser so the information could be exchanged.

I had to sit in the back seat of the cruiser, and I am slightly clausterphobic, so I did what I do to relax. I pulled out the slippers I am working on and started knitting in the back seat of the cruiser, the police officer actually seemed a little amused by this as am I. I just wish I had gotten some pictures of it……lol. It has got to be one of the strangest places I have ever knitted. No one was hurt and I got to knit in a police car, this is a priceless experience.

I have to say that I don’t blame the driver of the truck, crap happens and they get blamed for far more than they deserve to be. They do a lot of good things that no one ever seems to hear about. People don’t seem to realize how important the jobs they do, really are to each and everyone of us.

Please remember to give trucks and emergency vehicles space, not doing so could cost someone their life and their families a loved one.

Take care, be safe, keep smiling and crafting.

I would like to thank my best friend and crazy crafter Artemisnorth, for encouraging me to finally start a blog and helping me get it started. You may find a lot of different things in this blog as it goes on, as I have a lot of interests. There may be posts about everything from animals to zippers, but almost guaranteed there will be something about yarn crafts. I hope to have lots of useful information and ideas for others to try and use. I hope you enjoy what I have to share and feel free to leave your comments. Thank you for checking out my blog. Take care, keep crafting and smiling.
